| | Levee Resurfacing. The levee west of Sundail Road is being resurfaced with soil that is available from development in area. The levee is built of sand with an overlay of soil into which grass is seeded. Over the years the soil overlay has been eroded by some vehicle traffic, but mostly by the winds that blow down the gorge from the east. The first section is stripped of vegetation and a soil overlay put into place will be hydro-seeded. As soil is available, the project will continue heading west to the Sandy Pump Station. | | FEDEX Site. The FEDEX location, east of Sundail Road where the Alcoa Aluminum Plan used to sit, is being prepped and the SDIC is working with the Port or Portland to design and enhance the waterways necessary to adequately drain the near 107 acres of impervious area associated with the project. | | Multnomah County Intergovernmental Agreement. For many years SDIC has maintained County-owned culverts that go under County Roads within SDIC. It was not an issue with SDIC, but the County has suggested that there needs to be an IGA to that effect to avoid any liability issues between the two agencies. Plans are underway to take care of this. (on-going) |

| | Salmon Creek Diversion. Salmon Creek is currently diverted at high water at the Westerly end of its run into wetlands owned by the Port of Portland. The diversion was put in as a temporary structure in 1996 to take the load from the Sandy Pump Station. These wetlands will remain under new development plans and SDIC would like to move the diversion to the east about 1/2 mile so the diverted water could flow into the wetlands there, creating greater natural benefits. The City of Troutdale has graciously set aside $150,000 to do the work. |

| | Arata Creek Railroad Culvert Removable. The two culverts that go under the railroad spur leading to the old Alcoa Aluminum Plant have deflected leaving a 2' to 2 1/2' head loss. SDIC has received authority from the railroad to remove the rails and pipes and create a ditch. The Port of Portland is seeing if that solution is all right with them. Cost of the project is about $10,000.

| | Arata Creek Pipes. In 2006, in a joint project between the City of Troutdale which provided the funds, and the Multnomah County which provided the engineering and contract management, and the SDIC which provided the permits and benched the upstream portion of the creek, and additional Arata Creek culvert was put under Marine Drive. This has kept businesses to the South of Marine Drive from flooding out during high water events by increasing the flood storage capacity along Arata Creek and increasing the flow capacity through the culverts. Cost of project was about $145,000. |
